Acai Berry: 4:1 extract Free radicals react with organic substrates in our body such as proteins, lipids and, yes, even our very DNA.  Oxidation, much like the rusting of iron, causes damage resulting in disruption of function that can accelerate aging and lead to disease. The Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity assay, or simply ORAC score, is a reliable validated method to compare the antioxidant capacity of a food's ability to neutralize the peroxyl radical (the most dominant free radical that is produced in our bodies.) The ORAC assay has been called one of the most significant developments in analytical science in the last 100 years.  It has been suggested that units of ORAC should simply be called "anti-aging points."

Antioxidants help with this in two ways.  Firstly, they donate electrons to the free radicals in order to neutralize them and make them harmless.  This prevents the free radicals from damaging the body tissues. Secondly, the free radicals are then flushed from the body or restored back to their normal position.
As a person loses weight, the body burns fats.  To remain healthy while the body is burning fat faster, the dieter should add antioxidants to the diet.  Fat burning creates metabolic waste products, such as ketones and lipid peroxides.  Peroxides are dangerous free radicals, which get stored in the body’s fat stores.  As a dieter loses weight by burning fat, these toxins are released.  For a typical serving of 100 grams, cranberries and blueberries would total approximately 9,000 ORAC units, while açaí would total 102,700.

With antioxidant protection being so critical to disease prevention, anti-aging and general wellness,  açaí brings an unmatched antioxidant army to combat the prevalent peroxyl radical in human body

Gogi berry 60% extract The Goji berry hails from Asia and is known for being a beneficial natural source of Zeaxanthin, a carotenoid found in healthy eyes. Goji contains natural polysaccharides, and phytonutrients, plus important antioxidants to help fight against cell-damaging free radicals in the body.** Known as "Nature's Antioxidant Juice," Goji has long been used as a tonic by herbalists and helps bring a sense of well-being to your mind and body.**

Hawaiian Noni 4:1 extract Noni, Morinda citrifolia L. [Fam. Rubiaceae] has been extensively used in folk medicine by Polynesians for over 2,000 years. Noni is a traditional food and medicine in many tropical areas including the Pacific Islands, Southeast Asia, India, and the Philippines. Ethnobotanical data is plentiful on the uses of the fruit, leaves, and root of the plant. Ancient Hawaiians used noni fruit for both internal and topical applications. Noni is still used by the local population in Hawaii for sugar control diseases, high vascular pressure, heart health maintenance, abnormal growths, and other chronic disorders. Based on clinical practice and animal studies, a polysaccharide-rich substance from noni fruit juice attacks abnormal cells in several different ways. Noni fruit juice seems to act indirectly against abnormal growths, primarily through immunostimulatory effects. Animal studies found that adding 10% noni fruit juice to drinking water for one week significantly reduced DNA adduct formation in rodents. DNA adducts change the shape of DNA and initiate the formation of abnormal cells (i.e. chemicals in cigarette smoke are known to cause DNA adducts thereby initiating lung abnormal growths in smokers). A low dosage of noni juice (6-15mg daily for 4-5 days) reduced the formation of DNA adducts by 30% in the heart, 41% in the lung, 42% in the liver, and 80% in the kidney of female rats. Even more dramatic reductions were obtained in male mice: 60% in the heart, 50% in the lung, 70% in the liver, and 90% in the kidney. Noni juice also has potent antioxidant activity. Researchers conclude that noni juice could be used in clinical applications as a supplemental agent to reduce side-effects and improve chemotherapy. In animal studies, noni juice treatments prolonged the life span of mice by more than 75%.

Mangosteen 5% extract The fruits are used in traditional medicine to treat skin infections, wounds, and diarrhea. Recent studies have revealed that xanthones from the fruit hulls exhibit antibacterial (3), antifungal (4), and antiinflammatory (5) Extract from the pericarp of mangosteen has antioxidant effects.(13) Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center

Pomegranate 40% extract Several studies have shown that pomegranate has antioxidant and antiatherosclerotic properties attributed to the presence of multiple polyphenols such as tannins, flavonols, anthocyanins and ellagic acid (1) (2). Pomegranate juice has been shown to suppress inflammatory cell signaling (1), inhibit prostate tumor growth and lower serum PSA levels (3) (4), and also inhibit aromatase activity, endogenous estrogen biosynthesis and breast cancer cell proliferation (5) in vitro. Consumption of pomegranate juice was found to benefit patients with carotid artery stenosis (6), in those with hypertension (7), and in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD)(8), but had no effect in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (9). Pomegranate juice appears to slow the rate of increase of PSA in men with high PSA levels (2). But such effect needs to be confirmed in large scale clinical trials. Adverse effects associated with use of pomegranate juice are rare. There is, however, a concern that pomegranate juice can inhibit cytochrome P450 enzymes similar to grapefruit juice (10) (11). But other studies yielded mixed results (12 Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center

Resveratrol has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties as evidenced by its cardioprotective effects. It reduces the oxidation of low density lipoproteins (LDL) and inhibits aggregation of platelets and may offer protection against atherogenesis and coronary heart disease (1) (2). Women with hormone sensitive diseases, such as estrogen receptor-positive cancer should avoid resveratrol Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
